This project involved the interior demolition and DOD AT/FP compliant renovation of the Army’s extensive Conmy Hall theater at Fort Myer, VA.
Major interior renovation work included installation of extensive electrical, fire protection, data/communications, and mechanical/HVAC systems, including air handling units, associated equipment, and complex sound-lined ductwork fitted to a specially designed support system. Work also involved major architectural finishes, including the refurbishment of wood finishes and the repair/replacement of floors, walls, and ceilings, asbestos and other hazardous material abatement, exterior structural work, including concrete and masonry repairs, bathroom, entrance/reception, and circulation area renovations, extensive interior and exterior design features, including installation of window treatments, replacement of roll up doors, and replacement of exterior canopies, and, most notably, the installation of world class lighting, audio-video, and acoustical theater systems, all specially designed for presidential receptions.
The Conmy Hall facility was occupied during the project. Throughout, Grimberg efficiently coordinated all trades to accommodate Owner and occupant requirements, self-performed a large percentage of the work, accommodated all Corps-requested additions to the contract, and aggressively scheduled all work to ensure that the project remained within the agreed upon budget, was finished within the agreed upon, post-addition schedule, and was completed with no Lost Time Accidents and without any sacrifice to the company’s strict quality standards.
As a result of the company’s performance at Conmy Hall, as well as the substantial additional value it provided to the Corps of Engineers throughout the project, Grimberg was awarded ‘Outstanding’ overall ratings for customer satisfaction, quality control, safety, and timeliness.
