Department of the Navy: Bolling Air Force Base, Washington DC
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) renovation project involved the demolition and new construction of large air handling units and related HVAC and filtration systems throughout an occupied, secure, and confined-space government facility. Grimberg implemented significant sustainable design features throughout the project and completed all work to the owner’s satisfaction, receiving excellent ratings and an exemplary evaluation for its efforts.
Overview
Work on the DIA project included the replacement of large air handling units, chillers, ductwork, and HVAC support systems, including energy-efficient systems and equipment, throughout the occupied and operational DIA facility. With that, Grimberg installed complex interior filter systems designed to protect the building from exterior air contaminated by hazardous agents, including chemical, biological, and radiological hazards.
The company implemented comprehensive public safety plans and provided temporary HVAC air supply to allow for uninterrupted service to the operational areas of the building.
