Future Combat System Facility Renovation - Building 120
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD

This project was Phase I of a multi-phase, multi-construction contract effort to renovate Building 120 at Aberdeen Proving Ground and accommodate the Combined Test Organization (CTO) Node of the Future Combat Systems project.

The John C. Grimberg Co. (Grimberg) served as the prime contractor for this award-winning phase, which included the upgrade of power and utility systems, the construction of operations and training areas, a state-of-the-art data center, and exterior refurbishment.

Grimberg’s DOD AT/FP-compliant work included the renovation/construction of a new first floor in an existing high bay space, as well as the renovation and construction of a computer center, a 50-seat, multi-media viewing portal, two after action rooms, entrance/lobby areas, bathrooms, office spaces, kitchens, and a mechanical room on the second floor.

Notable work included minor hazardous material abatement, comprehensive mechanical/HVAC and ductwork, structural, electrical, and fire protection systems installation for the entire original building.

The contractor also installed sophisticated data/communications systems and temperature and humidity controls, completed major architectural finish work, and provided numerous circulation areas, including a handicapped accessible entrance ramp, a wheelchair lift within the viewing portal, a new egress stair tower, and spiral stairs.
